Louise, I am so sorry to tell you this but the real and only pizza you can get is in Napoli and where I live ( 400 miles away ) pizza is ok but not as it is in the " real " pizzerias in Napoli, so I would say;" don't worry to much ". -

Finnish authoritories inquires on DF policies of JWs
by InquiryMan inuntil now, only senior members of the jehovahs witnesses committee have had access to the congregation's secret book of rules.. the disciplinary activities of the jehovah's witnesses committee have been criticised for violating human rights.. http://yle.fi/uutiset/jehovahs_witnesses_to_hand_over_top_secret_manual/7244267.
link from the major finnish tv broadcaster.
according to anna-maja henriksson, finland's minister of justice, the purpose of the handover is to examine the book and determine whether its rules and regulations run counter to finnish law.. henriksson and interior minister paivi rasanen met on thursday with the leadership of the jehovah's witnesses in helsinki.

Old stuff from last year! As usual nothing happened or changed, just a few promises from the local Bethel leaders.

KH 1st timer, could use some advice
by rathernotsay inhey people, .
i am soon going into a kh for the first time and i could use some advice around etiquette etc.
i know next to nothing besides the fundamental beliefs of jws, i personally dont believe in any religion, and that stance isnt ever going to change, however i don't want to come across as rude or disrespectful.

ok, it seems a bit like my story ( except the beginning ) so yes do your best to keep the family togheter and some visits to the KH won't hurt but be careful because they ( JWs ) have only one purpose and that is to get you as a baptized and paying/working member of their community. -

since I am " normal " ( worldly for the JWs but I use the word " normal " what make them mad...) and married to a Jw since 28 years I wanted to give you my example as a reply but after reading your other thread I canged my reply.
How did you marry a JW? Was she baptized when you married her? My wife married me spite all the pressure of the congregation and really she went through hell was shunned and nobody oh the cong ( except 2 ) showed up at our wedding. Before marrying her I told her that se had to accept as I was and she replied;" I do and I want you just to allow me the have my religion."
It seems to me like mentioned in other comments there are two problems;
- your unfaithful wife and the Jws- your children
I am not so optimistic about your marriage but I would start thinking about saving your children and there only one way that you can do that
- birthday parties- all activities at school as other children ( christmas and other things )- hobbies and sports- " normal " friends
So, yes go to the KH so now and then, don't accept a bible study and but most important of all, let your kids have a normal life. -

Mormon view of JW.ORG
by konceptual99 indoes anyone have any links to how the mormons (or ex mormons for that matter) view the changes that the wts has made over recent years, especially the growth of jw.org and characters like caleb & sophia?.
have they noticed?
do they see similarities?
-
roberto avon
what you just asked is really interesting and I am very curious about the comments.
Nobody calls them Mormons anymore.
In Italy they are called " The church of Jesus Christ's saints of the last days ( sorry for the translation ) certainly more appealing than " Christian congregation of Jehovah's witnesses ".
Are the Jws doing the same rebranding with jworg????

Before knowing TTATT did you really believe in things as...
by roberto avon indid you really believe in things as ;- the earth is only 6000 years old- the 144.000- 1914, based upon the destructiono of jerusalem- harmagheddon or the end of the world coming soon???
?i married a jw when i was an interested person and studying with the jw's ( not the way they wanted) but i told my wife before marrying her that " most probably " i would never have been a jw.she accepted me as i was and married me.
after that i had interrupted the study for one year, i started all over again with an elder of my wife's cong.

Xanthippe.
I married my wife because I loved her and I love her and I thought that the Jws were a normal religion, which it isn't. I studied not in the way they wanted ( also with my own bible ) and to know something more about my wife's religion. She is very liberal and goes to the Kh once every two weeks, doesn't go in field service or door to door and is also skeptical about the points I have asked you. My " problem " is ; how should I tell her that she isn't at all a Jw?" But, you know, who cares? Our three children are " normal " and she says that she goes to the Kh for God and not the organization. People in our neighbourhood don't know she is a Jw. I don't think that she is the only one but there are many like here, especially in Italy

Village Idiot,
yes, I made a mistake because 6000 years is referred to the first man and not to the earth. But this shows, that for me it was such a nonsense that I didn't even listen to what they said. I was raised as a non practisant catholic but already at the age of 10,11 years I became agnostic, what I still am. If you are not a born in, or already with a strong faith ( look at the results of the Jws in Latin America ) I think it is very difficult to believe this " stuff."

She accepted me as I was and married me. After that I had interrupted the study for one year, I started all over again with an elder of my wife's cong. I did it for more than one year but never, not even for one moment, I believed the topics mentioned above. Of course this drove the elder crazy and he didn't want go on with me
I discussed many times with my wife and she is very open and sincere in telling me some points she never really understood but since she is a born in she was just doing as the rest of herbfamily.
Did you never have any doubts before knowing TTATT? I mean the really tipical and absurd Jw's doctrines? -

What I Like About This Forum...
by Tempest in a Teacup in...is that it gives me insight into jw circles i'd otherwise never know.. my mother loathes gossip and derives a personal pleasure in shutting jw gossips up.
as a family, we belong to that boring side of the congregation which never hear any of the juicy stories on the going-ons in the hall.. this forum however makes it possible to have a real panoramic view of the whole thingy.
from the gb to bethel, to the elders and their families, to the ninja-pioneer army, and many other cliques in the congregations.

what I like about this forum......
I am married since 28 years with a born in Jw ( very liberal, though )
I always thought that I was strong enough to protect my family from the undue influence of " fanatic " Jw family members and the sisters of the cong that dropped by, so now and then.
That is untrue and thanks to this forum I even know more than my wife who attends 2/3 meetings a month.
The information I find here is very important and helps me in understanding what is happening in my wife's religion and be prepared when there is a family discussion. -

wether you are a repressive goverment that uses propaganda ( Russia ?? ) or a " western democracy looking for weapons of mass destruction ( USA + GB ?? ) and invading foreign countries ( thank you very much, now we have Isis ) , somebody has to stop cults like Scientology or Watchtower.
It has nothing to do with freedom of religion
